Roof tiles mainly include glazed tiles, resin tiles, metal tiles, clay tiles, cement tiles, asphalt tiles, etc. Different materials and processes determine their performance and applicable scenarios.
Main types and features Glazed tiles
Traditional high-end tiles, fired at high temperatures, glazed on the surface, bright colors (such as yellow, green, blue, etc.), high strength and weather resistance, widely used in palaces, temples and other buildings.
Western-style glazed tiles have improved waterproofness and assembly, richer glaze colors and no lead pollution, suitable for modern buildings.
Disadvantages: complex process, high cost, inferior products are prone to glaze cracking, and may break in bad weather.
Resin tiles
Lightweight, easy to install, diverse colors and low price, but thermal expansion and contraction are obvious, and high resin content products need to be selected to improve durability.
Metal tiles
Modern mainstream types, including colored stone metal tiles, antique metal tiles, etc., have fireproof and corrosion-resistant properties. Colored stone metal tiles are combined with aluminum-zinc steel plates and colored sand, suitable for a variety of architectural styles;
Aluminum tiles, copper tiles, etc. are lightweight and have a long life, but attention should be paid to thermal insulation performance.
Asphalt tiles
Lightweight and waterproof, suitable for modern buildings, but easy to age (lifespan is about 10 years), and may be blown off by strong winds after the glue fails.
Clay tiles/cement tiles
Clay tiles are environmentally friendly and have good texture, but are fragile; cement tiles are low-cost and have good folding resistance, but are heavy and have a single appearance.
Other types
Slate tiles: natural stone cutting, heat-insulating and durable but high cost; Colored steel tiles: low price, fast construction, but flammable and have safety hazards; Solar tiles: integrated power generation function, suitable for green buildings.
Selection suggestions
Ancient buildings or high-end projects: give priority to glazed tiles or antique metal tiles, focusing on decorativeness and durability; Modern residences or limited budgets: recommend colored stone metal tiles or resin tiles, taking into account both performance and cost; Harsh climate areas: avoid using inferior glazed tiles or asphalt tiles, and give priority to metal tiles or fiber cement tiles.
